Mold/Die Polisher

Progressive tool and die company seeking a Polisher responsible for grinding, sanding or polishing a variety of metals and aluminum using hand tools or hand-held power tools:
  1. Grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
  2. Move controls to adjust, start, or stop equipment during grinding and polishing processes.
  3. Select files or other abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
  4. Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met.
  5. Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them.
  6. Remove completed work pieces from equipment or work tables, using hand tools, and place work pieces in containers.
  7. Load and adjust work pieces onto equipment or work tables, using hand tools.
  8. Is dedicated to continuous improvement and willing to assist in assembly when polishing is slow.
Must have a good attitude, be self–motivated, be able to meet planned time lines and be dedicated to continuous improvement.  Open to candidates with various levels of experience.  Second shift available.

Sales Engineer

Franchino Mold & Engineering is seeking a Sales Engineer to prospect new customers, pursue new industry opportunities, investigate alternate lines of business, provide meaningful and timely input on marketing plans and assessments, and to follow up and develop opportunities from marketing plans.

The Sales Engineer will also manage assigned “House Accounts” and maintain customer relations for future opportunities that meet or exceed the company’s profit goals.  Act as a liaison between customers and the Design/Production departments of the Company.  Provide the Quotation Manager with sufficient data so they can quote the jobs.  Reviews quotations to assure hours and profitability meets or exceeds the Company’s requirements.  Work with the Project Managers to create project time lines and communicate with customers to assure their expectations are met.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and balance a multitude of conflicting projects / demands simultaneously
  • Proven ability to understand business problems, solve problems outside your immediate domain and develop creative business and technical solutions

CAM Programmer

The candidate in this role will utilize various 3D modeling, surfacing techniques and 2D data to modify and extract data from existing geometry in order to produce CNC toolpaths for 3 or 5-axis milling, in accordance with customer requirements and company standards. Additionally, the individual will provide manufacturing personnel with program routing, setup, sequence information.

 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Import and manipulate 3D models in WorkNC 2019.0 using modeling and surfacing techniques to prepare the models for machining.
  • Create CNC toolpaths for 3 or 5 axis machining centers.
  • Provides instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machines.
  • Perform toolpath verification prior to program deployment.
  • Create CNC program routing, setup, and sequence information to assist shop floor personnel.
  • Analyzes data and makes recommendations for optimal product run times.

 Periodic Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing new processes that improve quality and reduce costs.
  • Document new processes, procedures, and work instructions in detail.
  • Design new and reverse engineer existing fixturing/tooling for internal use.

 Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings along with a thorough understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Understanding of milling/turning operations and related machining parameters such as speeds and feeds.
  • Proficiency in WorkNc 2019.0 preferred but not required
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with management and coworkers.
  • Strong technical, analytical, systematic, and detail-oriented thinking skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Strong attendance and goal oriented.

Experience: 1-3 years.

Education: Associates degree or equivalent experience as a CAM Programmer.

Designer

The FMEC Designer primary role is to assist our Engineering department with designing plastic injection molds and die cast dies. Experience with Unigraphics is strongly preferred, but not required if the candidate has experience with other design software. Ability to learn and understand the basic function and operation of molds and dies. Support Quotation Manager by gathering information, submitting RFQ’s for specialty items, rough mold layouts. Experience with Excel required. Must be self-motivated and able to meet planned time lines.

• Understands the function and operation of a die/mold function and operation.

• Effectively communicates with all disciplines (customer, vendors, other FMEC personnel) and effectively coordinates all information necessary to complete a die/mold design.

• Effectively communicates requirements to other team members to complete tasks.

• Identifies problems/opportunities and recommends viable solutions.

• Works independently and makes good decisions on own behalf.

• Understands department software(s) and uses effectively for tooling models and prints.

• Completes tasks accurately, within estimated hours and with minimal corrections.

• Exhibits personal continuous improvement of skills and capabilities.

Experience: 1-3 years.

Education: Associates Degree, or pursuit of degree, in Manufacturing Engineering Technology Design preferred.

Project Manager

Franchino Mold & Engineering seeking a Project Manager to plan, direct and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frames, expected quality and budgeted profitability. Reviews project proposal/plan to determine time frames, profitability, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project. Oversee all aspects of the project milestones and suggest and make process improvements.

• Work closely with the VP of Operations, Plant Manager, Machining Supervisor, Moldmaking Supervisor, Sales Engineers, Design Manager, Design Checker, Scheduler and Purchasing Manager.
• Assume the responsibility as the “Go To” person during a project for any issues and/or questions.
• Act as a liaison between sales and production to assure customer expectations are met at all times.
• Assure communication about projects is open and honest throughout the organization and during the full life of the project.
• Prepare and update a Gant chart noting all key dates that must be met.
• Coordinate process and update meetings for all of the projects.
• Raise red flags when the project is behind schedule and communicate with all people involved to outline a resolution.

Experience: 3-5 years of Project Manager experience required.

Education: Associates, Bachelor’s or Technical degree in Manufacturing or equivalent experience preferred. Tool & Die experienced preferred but not required.

Plant Cleaner

Plant-wide cleaners are primarily responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, clean and hygienic environment within the premises at which they work including office and manufacturing shop floor areas.

  • Responsible for cleaning buildings, equipment and machinery including brushing, mopping, sweeping, dusting, polishing and wiping.
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and ceilings.
  • Must have a positive attitude, good work ethic, punctuality and be willing and able to learn.

General Laborer

The person hired as a General Laborer will perform various unskilled and semi-skilled manual work as directed by supervisor in the general shop and/or maintenance.  The employee must be able to use standard equipment and hand tools particular to the area of assignment.

  • Must have a positive attitude, good work ethic, punctuality and be willing and able to learn.

CNC Lathe Operator

Franchino Mold’s CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for total CNC machine setup, programming, operation, maintenance and safety. You will be required to do multiple setups each day, including adjusting tool lengths and fixture offsets as necessary. When operating you will be required to assemble and preset tooling for subsequent operations during automated cycles to reduce machine downtime.

  • CNC programming experience is required.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and direction and ability to train others.
  • Must have a good attitude, be self -motivated and be able to meet planned time lines.
  • Open to candidates with 5+ years of experience.
  • First shift position available.

EDM Operator

EDM Operator will be responsible for total Wire and Sinker EDM programming, machine setup, operation, maintenance and safety.  Programming experience preferred but not required.  Ability to work with little supervision and direction.  Must have a good attitude, be self -motivated and be able to meet planned time lines.

Open to candidates with various levels of experience.  First shift available.

CNC Machinists – 1st/2nd & Weekend Shifts Available

First/Second shifts available.

CNC Machinists are responsible for total CNC machine setup, operation, maintenance and safety.  Perform a variety of milling, drilling, boring or other related operations to close and interrelated tolerances on CNC and non-CNC equipment.  CNC programming preferred but not required.  Ability to work with little supervision and direction.  Must have a good attitude, be self -motivated and be able to meet planned time lines.  Open to candidates with various levels of experience.

Boring Mill Operators

First/Second Shift Positions available.

CNC Boring Mill Operator responsible for total CNC machine setup, operation, maintenance and safety.  Perform a variety of milling, drilling, boring and other related operations.  Experience with Fanuc and Heidenhain Controls.  Knowledge of CAM software – Lemoine preferred but not required.  Ability to write and edit G & M code and work with little supervision and direction.  Must be self -motivated and able to meet planned time lines.

Mold Maker– 1st/2nd & Weekend Shifts Available

Moldmakers are responsible for the full assembly, repair and maintenance of dies/molds, inserts and components. Works from plans, diagrams and specifications to perform a group of related and unrelated operations to manufacture a completed product or component. Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.

  • Possesses an overall knowledge of purpose, use, fit and function of all mold and die components.
  • Knowledge of new mold assembly, die tear down and spotting.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of assembling molds and dies.
  • Knowledge of polishing finished molds and dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify molds and dies using machine tools and hand tools.
  • General computer knowledge (Express Review, Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Overall knowledge of CNC machining/programming.
  • Operate all manual shop equipment and have all personal tools required to perform job duties.
  • Must have a good attitude, be self –motivated, be able to meet planned time lines and be dedicated to continuous improvement. Open to candidates with various levels of experience. First/Second shifts available.
